Fantasia
These two photos show a toy Dragon that I used to play with when I was young. These photo were taken around 1pm in front of a window. This is why you can see natural light reflecting off the dragons wings. At first I didn't know what angle to photograph the dragon and where. Then I realized that I have a white cabinet that is perfect for a white background. This first photo was taken with a white background and I edited it to make the photo more green and to make the dragons scale pop out more. The second photo as taken in front of a window and at a lower angle to get a more powerful picture. This photo was also given the crystalize filter to make it look kind of like a dream. I really like this dragon as my subject because he seems scary but still majestic. The cool tones make it's wings also stand out more.

Sorry!
These photos were taken of two dice and three yellow game pieces. I choose to use 3 because it is an odd number which is more visually appealing. The dice and the game pieces were taken next to a window for natural light and the window was white (white background). The first photo was edited to make the yellow game pieces turn purple and I used the mosaic filter on this photo. The second picture is much more natural, you can see natural light bouncing off the game piece. The background is also blurred to make it less distracting. My only challenge was trying to figure out how to place the props that I was photographing. I ended up dropping them onto the window and seeing how they naturally fell. Then I decided to leave them as they were. This proved to be the best tactic as they look naturally placed.
The Wild West
These images are of a cowboy lego set that belonged to my younger brother. I thought this object would be perfect because it depicts an actual scene (horses, bandits, women in carriage). The scene is supposed to show bandits/cowboys taking a carriage hostage with a woman inside. These photos were also both taken in front of a white background making editing them very easy. The first photo is edited with normal adjustments but later on I also decided to inverse the colors. The second photo is more dramatic, I made it in black and white and the mezzotint filter was used.

Hourglass of Life
These photos are taken of an wooden object that contains 5 small hourglasses in it.Each hourglass contain different colors of sand which look beautiful when the sunlight from the window bounced off the glass. I decided to put it right next to a window so that the sunlight would shine through the glass. I ended up taking so many photos because I kept flipping the hourglasses to capture the sand flowing at just the right moment. It was pretty difficult but I feel like this first picture beautifully captures the blue sand trickling down. The second picture is more still and it is edited with the pointilize filter.
Mr. Snail
These two images are off a polymer clay snail that I found while rummaging around my old things. I took these photos in front of my window to get as much sunlight on the little snail as possible. In the first picture I blurred the background a little (but you can still see the ice on the window from outside). I set the snail up on the window ledge and then found the right angle to shoot. As you can see the sun is hitting it's little eyes (even though that isn't where a real snails eyes are located). The second picture is angled at the snails side and it is edited with the color half tone filter. I didn't have any challenges with this object and I really like how the first picture came out. |
